The School of Governance and Public Affairs, under the aegis of PRAXIS, organised a webinar on “Public Policy Perspectives from the Technology Sector” on 23rd January 2026. The webinar featured Mr. Rajeev Agur, Infrastructure Public Policy Manager at Amazon Web Services, and aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the interface between technology, governance, and public policy.

Drawing on his extensive professional experience in the technology sector, Mr. Agur shared valuable insights based on his engagement with policy, regulation, and industry practices. His address highlighted the growing significance of technology as a critical enabler of governance and public service delivery. He explained how technological innovations influence every stage of the public policy cycle, from policy formulation and stakeholder consultation to implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Mr. Agur discussed the role of digital platforms, fintech solutions, online services, and app-based technologies in improving efficiency, transparency, and citizen outreach. He emphasised how technology facilitates coordination among multiple stakeholders, enables better targeting of beneficiaries, and strengthens data-driven decision-making. The session also underscored the evolving role of private technology firms as important policy actors working alongside governments in implementing and adapting public policies.

Additionally, the speaker reflected on the importance of trust, transparency, ethical conduct, and long-term engagement between state and non-state actors. He also shared insights into career pathways in public policy, particularly in technology-driven domains, highlighting the need for strong analytical, communication, and regulatory skills.

The interactive session enriched learning by connecting theoretical concepts with real-world policy practice and offered students meaningful perspectives on contemporary governance challenges in the digital age.
