SGPA organized a webinar on “Understanding Buddhism: Values, Identity, and Culture” on 13 January 2025 for students of the B.A. Public Administration and Governance programme. The session featured Dr. Anushka Kahandagamage, Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Divinity School, Harvard University, and a distinguished Sri Lankan scholar of Buddhist Studies.

Dr. Kahandagamage elaborated on the history of Buddhist studies and the core Buddhist values such as compassion, mindfulness, non-violence, and non-attachment, highlighting their relevance in everyday life through the promotion of inner balance, ethical conduct, and mindful decision-making. She also provided an overview of the historical evolution and cultural significance of Buddhism and Buddhist studies. Her deliberations included comparative perspectives, linking Buddhist teachings with other world religions and underscoring shared principles of peace, harmony, and morality.
