XIM University was one of the 76 universities chosen by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India and the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), New Delhi, to take part in the ‘G20 University Connect’ program, commemorating India’s Presidency of the G20 summit. The School of Governance and Public Affairs along with School of Sustainability and Internal Quality Assurance Cell held a Public Lecture and Panel Discussion with the theme “Ingredients for the Convivial Future of Marine Fisheries in the Context of Blue Coastal Economy.” Honoring the diversity of knowledge sources, the speakers were invited from various sectors including academia, practitioners, government, civil society, policy think tanks, and local communities.

The chief speaker for the day was Prof John Kurien, an eminent thinker, writer, and change champion in the field who shed light on the crucial subject of marine fisheries and its significance in the context of Blue Coastal Economy.
Ambassador Debraj Pradhan, IFS (Retd.) is a distinguished diplomat with remarkable career in diplomacy and education.
Dr. Priyadarshi Dash is an associate professor at Research and Information System (RIS), New Delhi, India.
Dr. Arun Padiyar is a practitioner serving as WorldFish Lead- India and CGIAR country convenor for India.
Mr. J. Vincent Jain, is a deputy chief executive of the South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies (SIFFS), has dedicated over 30 years to promoting the economic wellbeing of the fishermen community.

Pre-event competitions-
Poster making and essay writing competitions held and were judged by two of the faculty members of SGPA- Prof. Vaishali Singh and Prof. Sipra Ram. The winners were awarded on the day of the event. The day ended with an energetic dance performance by the students.
