On International Youth Day, the School of Governance and Public Affairs came alive with vibrant energy as we celebrated the boundless potential and dynamism of our youth. With a keen focus on fostering insightful discussions, our event aimed to engage young minds in reflecting on their pivotal role in shaping the modern world.
The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Fr. Registrar, S. Antony Raj S.J., and Prof. S Peppin, Dean of SGPA, along with faculty members from various departments. We were privileged to have Prof. P. V Padma as our Chief Guest, whose enlightening thoughts on ‘modernity and tradition’ captivated everyone present.
Prior to the event, a poster-making competition was held, providing students with a creative platform to express their perspectives on the theme. The entries showcased the myriad issues faced by today’s youth, from societal pressures to environmental concerns, through powerful visual narratives.
Adding a touch of creativity and entertainment, members of the ‘Abhinaya Club’ treated the audience to a thought-provoking skit. Through their performance, they shed light on the challenges and aspirations of youth in the modern era, sparking meaningful conversations and reflections.
The highlight of the day was a lively debate on the topic, “Youth for Modernity: to be or not to be.” Students engaged in spirited discussions, exploring the complexities of balancing tradition with the demands of a rapidly evolving world. Their insights and perspectives underscored the importance of youth empowerment and active participation in shaping our collective future.
