4 Year B.A. (Hons) in Public Administration and Governance

4 Year B.A. (Hons) in Public Administration and Governance

Introduction :

In a world where effective governance is paramount, where public trust in institutions is essential, and where leadership shapes the course of nations, our four-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program in Public Administration and Governance stands as a beacon of opportunity and excellence. Designed to nurture the next generation of leaders, policymakers, and administrators, our curriculum blends academic rigor with practical experience, equipping students with the tools they need to tackle complex issues with confidence and competence.

What sets our program apart is its interdisciplinary approach. By drawing on insights from political science, economics, sociology, history, psychology, and management studies, we provide students with a holistic understanding of the dynamics shaping public affairs. Beyond the classroom, our program emphasizes practical learning opportunities. Whether through internships with government agencies, research projects with non-profit organizations, or fieldwork in local communities, students gain hands-on experience that prepares them for the challenges of public service.

This unique and interdisciplinary programme blends three important disciplines:

  • Public Administration
  • Political Science
  • International Relations
Special Features :
  • Civil Services training
  • Multidisciplinary Curriculum
  • Emphasis on Skill-Development
  • Experiential Learning
  • Research Orientation
Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes:

The program aims to develop a holistic and deep-rooted understanding of the students in the field of public policy and administration, politics and international relations. Students will gain the following core competencies after the completion of the program.

  • Policy Communication skills, required to work as executives, and other entry level jobs in corporate consulting, and other public policy related organizations
  • Critical thinking skills in analyzing social, political and governmental structures, needed in research organizations, think-tanks and NGOs.
  • Research and Academic Writing skills, suited to pursue advanced degrees including a PhD in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations and related disciplines.
  • Advantage in Civil Service Examination Preparation: The BA-PAG curriculum is crafted in a way that it covers most of the syllabus of General Studies, and entirely covers the syllabus of two popular optional papers – Public Administration, and Political Science & International Relations. This gives the graduates of the course a strong advantage when appearing for Civil Services exams conducted by the UPSC and various other competitive exams for State PSCs, RBI, and other Public Sector jobs.
Curriculum Design

The program is in line with the NEP 2020 and offers a forward-looking curriculum that prepares students for a dynamic landscape in public service, policy, and governance. The curriculum of this bachelor’s program covers all contemporary and conventional areas of public administration, i.e., theories (traditional to contemporary), Indian administration, internal security, rural development, grassroots administration, disaster management, social welfare & social accountability, economic & financial administration, public enterprises, non-profit administration, inclusive development and digital governance. It offers a multidisciplinary understanding rooted in economics, history, politics, sociology and psychology. The students will earn a major in public administration and governance and a minor in political science and international relations after the four-year program.
